The Eagle was the last vehicle that was entirely designed in the United States for AMC (American Motor Corporation). The Eagle, originally designed by AMC in conjunction with its partner, at the time, Renault. This French company also owned Jeep. In 1987, Chrysler purchased both the AMC and Jeep lines from Renault.
